Synopsis
"Disco, Ibiza, Locomía" (2024) is a Spanish-Mexican biographical drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Kike Maíllo. It reconstructs the real story of Locomía — the theatrical pop group that swept through European stages in the late 1980s armed with feather fans, floor-length fringes, and a stage presence that had no precedent in Spanish pop.
Jaime Lorente — known internationally from "Money Heist" — plays Xavi Font, the misfit visionary who co-founded the group with Lurdes and Manolo in the club culture of Ibiza. As the act grows from local novelty to a continental phenomenon, control drifts to powerful producer José Luís Gil, and Font finds himself watching his own creation from a distance he never intended. Alberto Ammann, Iván Pellicer, Pol Granch, and Blanca Suárez round out a strong ensemble.
Maíllo keeps the first half warm and the second half cold — that contrast is where the film earns its keep. A good pick for anyone drawn to 1980s European pop history or the cost of creative ownership. Watch "Disco, Ibiza, Locomía" (2024) online on iFILM.
