Synopsis

Call Me by Your Name (2017) is a drama directed by Luca Guadagnino that you can watch online on iFILM. Timothée Chalamet plays Elio, a restless seventeen-year-old spending the summer at his family's villa in northern Italy — reading, practicing piano, drifting through sun-drenched afternoons. The year is 1983.

Oliver, a confident American graduate student played by Armie Hammer, arrives to assist Elio's father, a professor of Greco-Roman antiquity. The two circle each other warily at first — one tightly wound, the other almost provocatively at ease. Over six weeks of cycling through the hills, lazy swims in the river, and evenings that stretch too long, the distance between them closes. At 132 minutes the film never rushes. Michael Stuhlbarg's quiet scene near the end, as Elio's father, quietly steals the picture.

Adapted from André Aciman's 2007 novel by screenwriter James Ivory, who won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay at the 2018 ceremony. Guadagnino shot on location around Crema and Brescia — the Lombard light is half the story. Watch Call Me by Your Name (2017) online on iFILM.
