Synopsis
Miller's Girl (2024) is a psychological drama-thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Jenna Ortega plays Cairo Sweet, a gifted high-school senior, opposite Martin Freeman as Jonathan Miller, her literature teacher and a writer who never quite made it.
It begins with a homework assignment. Cairo turns in a story so intimate and so deliberately provocative that the line between mentor and student starts to dissolve. Both of them are playing a game. She tests how far language can push a person; he tries to hold onto whatever self-control he has left. Around them, Bashir Salahuddin and Dagmara Domińczyk fill out a small cast where a single sentence can wreck two lives.
Jade Halley Bartlett's feature debut leans entirely on its two leads and on sharp, bookish dialogue, with nods to Henry Miller and Nabokov layered through the script.
