One Eight Seven

One Eight Seven (1997) is a drama-thriller by Kevin Reynolds you can watch online on iFILM. Samuel L. Jackson plays Trevor Garfield, a teacher who is stabbed by a student in the hallway of his Brooklyn school. He survives, but the man who walks out is not the one who walked in.

A year later Garfield starts over in Los Angeles, taking a substitute job in a district where the classroom barely differs from the street outside. A tagging crew runs the halls, threats against teachers are routine, and the administration would rather look away. Garfield tries to reach the kids who still want a future. But the violence he once lived through keeps pulling at him, and the line between self-defense and revenge starts to blur.
