Sceptical author Mike Enslin makes a living visiting supposedly haunted hotels and writing about why they aren't. Room 1408 at the Dolphin Hotel in New York is next on his list. Enslin ignores the warning. He always does. At nine o'clock the door swings shut and the room begins to work. Temperature drops, the clock radio starts on its own, and time stops obeying normal rules. What follows is a one-man psychological siege — no monsters in corridors, just a single space that refuses to let go.
