About

Synopsis

Notes on a Scandal (2006) is a British psychological drama you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Richard Eyre from Zoë Heller's novel, it locks two teachers at a London school inside a secret nobody should ever learn.

Barbara, played by Judi Dench, has taught history for ages and lives alone with her cat, recording everyone around her in a private diary. The arrival of younger, magnetic art teacher Sheba Hart, played by Cate Blanchett, cracks open her loneliness. Then Barbara stumbles on the truth: her new friend is sleeping with a fifteen-year-old pupil. That secret becomes a lever almost at once. Bill Nighy plays Sheba's husband.

Eyre made less a melodrama than a chilly study of obsession and blackmail, with Barbara's voiceover growing more unsettling by the scene. Both Dench and Blanchett drew Oscar nominations for the roles. The tagline lands hard: one woman's mistake is another's opportunity. Stream Notes on a Scandal (2006) online on iFILM.
