Synopsis
Thirteen Days (2000) is a historical thriller you can watch online on iFILM. It reconstructs the two weeks in October 1962 when a spy-plane photo of Cuba pushed Washington and Moscow to the brink of nuclear war. Kevin Costner heads the cast.
Most of it plays out inside the White House. President John F. Kennedy (Bruce Greenwood) and his brother Robert are squeezed between generals demanding an immediate strike on the island and the impossibility of backing down without inviting catastrophe. Soviet missiles on Cuban soil are nearly armed. We see it through aide Kenneth O'Donnell: sleepless nights, intercepted cables, ships steaming toward the blockade line where one jittery order could end everything. The clock keeps running, and nobody can afford a wrong move.
Director Roger Donaldson bets on the stale air of conference rooms rather than explosions, and it pays off, with tension wound out of plain conversation. If you like political thrillers built on real decisions that held millions of lives in the balance, this one delivers. Stream Thirteen Days (2000) online on iFILM.
