Synopsis
The World's Fastest Indian (2005) is Roger Donaldson's road-trip biopic you can watch online on iFILM. Anthony Hopkins plays Burt Munro, a New Zealand pensioner who spent decades tinkering with a 1920 Indian motorcycle in his backyard shed.
Burt's goal sits half a world away: the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, where engines run flat-out across the white desert. So he scrapes together the cash, talks his way past every obstacle, and ships himself and his hand-built machine to America. The detour becomes the heart of the film. A car-parts salesman, a widow, a transgender motel clerk, a young Native American man — strangers keep adopting this stubborn old foreigner. Walton Goggins, Diane Ladd and Bruce Greenwood round out the people he meets.
It really happened. In 1967 Munro set a land-speed record that, in his class, still stands. Donaldson had filmed Burt back in the 1970s, so he knew the man cold. The result is gentle, unhurried, and carried entirely by Hopkins' twinkle — a movie about obsession that never raises its voice. Stream The World's Fastest Indian online on iFILM.
