A deep-space signal arrives carrying instructions for fusing alien DNA with human cells. The experiment produces a girl who matures within weeks. When the lab moves to put her down, she escapes into Los Angeles with a single drive: to find a mate and reproduce. A mismatched team is sent after her, led by a calculating government handler (Ben Kingsley) and a no-nonsense cleaner (Michael Madsen), backed by biologist Marg Helgenberger, anthropologist Alfred Molina, and empath Forest Whitaker, who senses what she feels.
