Synopsis

All the President's Men (1976) — watch online on iFILM: a political thriller directed by Alan J. Pakula, starring Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman as Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein. The story tracks the two journalists from a routine break-in report in the summer of 1972 all the way to the corridors of the Nixon White House.

Neither reporter was well-known at the time. The story looked small at first — a bungled burglary at a Washington hotel. Then the money trails pointed somewhere unexpected. Officials stopped returning calls. A source who would only meet in underground parking lots, identified in the newsroom as Deep Throat, told Woodward to follow the money and said nothing else. Jason Robards plays Washington Post executive editor Ben Bradlee, who keeps publishing as pressure mounts. Hal Holbrook appears in the shadows. Jane Alexander quietly steals her scenes as a frightened bookkeeper who knows more than she wants to admit.

Screenwriter William Goldman adapted the book Woodward and Bernstein wrote themselves — a near-verbatim account of how two low-level reporters unraveled the biggest political scandal of the twentieth century. The film won four Academy Awards, including Best Adapted Screenplay. Stream All the President's Men (1976) in full on iFILM.
