About

Synopsis

USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage (2016) is a wartime survival drama you can watch online on iFILM. Nicolas Cage anchors it as Captain Charles McVay, whose cruiser is sunk in the Pacific during the final summer of the war.

Having secretly carried components for the bomb later dropped on Hiroshima to the island of Tinian, the ship is torpedoed by a Japanese submarine on the way home. Roughly twelve hundred men go into the water; only a fraction climb out alive five days later, ravaged by thirst, salt poisoning and circling sharks. Tom Sizemore, Thomas Jane and Matt Lanter fill out the crew under Mario Van Peebles' direction.

The story sticks close to one of the U.S. Navy's worst sea disasters, right down to the court-martial that hung McVay out for a loss that wasn't his fault. It's for viewers who want the ordeal and the moral weight rather than spectacle. Stream USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage (2016) online on iFILM.
