Synopsis
Beast of War (2025) is an Australian war-horror thriller you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Kiah Roache-Turner for Bronte Pictures. Set in 1942, a Japanese air strike sends a transport ship to the bottom of the Timor Sea, leaving a handful of soldiers clinging to a shrinking raft with hundreds of miles of open water in every direction.
Leo (Mark Coles Smith), Will (Joel Nankervis) and Des Kelly (Sam Delich) are among those who make it out. They are also among those who cannot agree on anything. Dehydration, enemy patrols and festering personal grudges would be enough. Then a great white shark starts circling.
Roache-Turner made his name with the cult zombie film Wyrmwood and its sequel — lean, brutal genre work shot under pressure. Here he strips the war movie down to a raft, a few actors and a very large predator, running the whole thing at a tight 87 minutes. The tagline says it plainly: "Survival is the only victory."
