Synopsis
The Good, the Bad, the Weird (2008) is a Korean action-western you can watch online on iFILM. Set across the windswept plains of 1930s Manchuria under Japanese occupation, it kicks off when a treasure map changes hands during a train robbery.
A petty thief named Tae-goo holds up a Japanese military train and walks away with a map said to lead to lost Qing dynasty riches. From there everyone wants it. A cold-blooded gunman, Chang-yi, gives chase, bandits and soldiers pour in, and a laconic bounty hunter joins the scramble. Song Kang-ho plays the weird one, Lee Byung-hun the bad, Jung Woo-sung the good. Three men, one map, a desert full of bullets.
Director Kim Jee-woon nods openly at Sergio Leone, then drops the spaghetti western into the Asian steppe and cranks the tempo to a frenzy. The closing chase, horses, motorcycles and trucks tearing across the dunes at once, is the kind of set piece people rewatch. Made for anyone who wants style, gunpowder and humor stacked high.
