Synopsis
A Fistful of Dollars (1964) is the Sergio Leone western you can watch online on iFILM. It launched both Clint Eastwood's stardom and the whole spaghetti western. A stranger in a poncho rides into the dust of the Mexican border, cigar clenched in his teeth, owing nothing to anyone.
The town of San Miguel is split between two smuggling clans, the Mexican Rojos and the American Baxters. Neither side can finish the other off, so the killing never stops. The drifter spots a chance to profit: he sells lies to both gangs and lets them tear each other apart. The first thing he meets riding in is a corpse strapped to a horse, a note pinned to its back reading "Adios, amigo." Gian Maria Volonté plays Ramón, the cruelest gun in town.
Leone loosely rebuilt Akira Kurosawa's samurai drama Yojimbo, trading the sword for a six-shooter. Ennio Morricone's whistle and twanging guitar scored it and defined the genre that followed. This is where the Man With No Name was born. Stream A Fistful of Dollars (1964) online on iFILM.
