Synopsis
The Mistress of Spices (2005) is a romantic fantasy you can watch online on iFILM. In a tiny spice shop on the edge of San Francisco, Tilo (Aishwarya Rai) reads her customers' fates and hands each one the spice that answers a secret need.
Her gift comes with three vows: never leave the store, never touch another person, serve only the spices. Tilo keeps them for years — until a charming architect named Doug (Dylan McDermott) crashes his motorcycle right outside her door. Feelings ignite against every rule, and each one she breaks threatens to strip away her magic. The spices themselves begin to turn on her.
Directed by Paul Mayeda Berges from Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni's novel, with a script he co-wrote with Gurinder Chadha of Bend It Like Beckham, it's a soft, earnest fable about choosing between duty and desire — cardamom and turmeric perfuming every frame.
