Synopsis
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002) is Peter Jackson's fantasy film you can watch online on iFILM. The middle chapter of the trilogy based on Tolkien's novel, where the broken Fellowship now follows three separate roads.
Frodo (Elijah Wood) and Sam (Sean Astin) push toward Mordor to unmake the Ring. A guide forces his way into their path: Gollum, a wasted creature who begs for mercy one moment and plots betrayal the next. Aragorn, the elf Legolas and the dwarf Gimli track a pack of orcs who have seized two young hobbits. Meanwhile the kingdom of Rohan braces for a siege. Saruman's army marches on the fortress of Helm's Deep, where women, children and a thin line of weary soldiers take shelter. Gandalf (Ian McKellen) returns, though even his power may not be enough.
Shot across New Zealand and produced by New Line Cinema, the film cemented the trilogy as the benchmark of its genre. Andy Serkis as Gollum was a leap forward in motion capture, a living character built entirely in the computer. The night battle at Helm's Deep, fought in driving rain, still ranks among the finest in cinema. Stream The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002) online on iFILM.
