About

Synopsis

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003) is available to watch online — Peter Jackson's epic conclusion to his Tolkien trilogy, a fantasy action film about the last march to Mount Doom. The end is near. So is the temptation.

Frodo and Sam crawl toward the volcano while Gollum whispers a different plan into their ears. Far to the west, the dark armies of Mordor break against the white walls of Minas Tirith, and the fate of Gondor hangs on a single charge. Gandalf holds the gate, Aragorn rallies the living and the dead, and Éowyn rides to war disguised as a soldier. Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, Viggo Mortensen, Sean Astin and Andy Serkis as Gollum carry the weight of it all.

Shot across New Zealand by New Line Cinema and WingNut Films on a budget near 94 million dollars, the picture earned over a billion at the box office. It swept the Academy Awards with eleven wins, including Best Picture, tying the record for most Oscars ever. Three and a half hours long, yet the quiet goodbyes land harder than any battlefield.
