Synopsis

One evening Marc shaves off the moustache he has worn his entire adult life and waits for his wife to gasp. Agnès (Emmanuelle Devos) notices nothing. Neither do their friends at dinner. And when Marc finally points it out, everyone calmly insists he never had a moustache. A prank? A conspiracy? Or has one small piece been quietly pulled from the world, dragging everything else with it?
Carrère adapted his own novel and directed it himself, a rare case of a writer keeping his own text in hand. There is no tidy solution waiting at the end: the dread builds out of household trivia, and the finale heads somewhere you won't see coming. For viewers who like the floor to drop away slowly.
