Deep Blue Sea 2 (2018) is Darin Scott's sci-fi creature horror about intelligent killer sharks, available to watch online on iFILM. It is a direct-to-video sequel to the 1999 cult favorite, made nearly twenty years later with an entirely new cast and crew.

Pharmaceutical billionaire Carl Durant gathers a team of scientists at an undersea facility and runs experiments on bull sharks, chasing a breakthrough in human intelligence. Shark expert Dr. Misty Calhoun (Danielle Savre) arrives to consult and quickly realizes the predators are already smarter than the people who engineered them. From there it plays out the way the genre demands: sharks loose, flooding corridors, and the crew picked off one by one.

Do not expect the polish of the original; the budget is modest and the effects show it. What it does deliver is exactly its lane, with blood, claustrophobic compartments and toothy monsters and no pretensions about anything more. A decent popcorn pick for fans of B-grade shark horror.
