Synopsis
The Blob (1988) is Chuck Russell's sci-fi horror you can watch online on iFILM. A meteor cracks open near a quiet California town, and out slides a pink mass of goo that swallows anyone it touches and swells with every kill.
Nobody in Arborville buys the rumors about the killer slime. Teenager Meg (Shawnee Smith) and small-town rebel Brian (Kevin Dillon) learn the truth when the thing yanks a man straight down a sewer drain. Then the military shows up in hazmat suits, and it turns out the creature never came from space at all.
Russell remade the cheap 1958 original and turned it into a wet, nasty showcase of practical effects: the monster was built from silicone and methylcellulose, every melt-and-devour scene shot live with no computers.
