Corporate pilot Kane (Daniel MacPherson) learns a catastrophe is bearing down on the planet — and his young daughter is trapped inside the evacuation zone. To reach her he throws in with Sy (Kellan Lutz), an escaped convict. The two strangers cross scorched wasteland where creatures claw up out of the ground, and the real danger, as usual, comes from people.

Abbess builds the film out of titled "chapters" and pulls genuine space-opera scope out of a modest budget. Isabel Lucas, Rachel Griffiths and Temuera Morrison fill out the cast.
