Spaceman

Spaceman (2024) is Johan Renck's science-fiction drama, available to watch online on iFILM. Czech astronaut Jakub is six months into a solo flight toward the edge of the solar system, with nothing but silence on the other side of the hull.

Back home his marriage is falling apart. His wife Lenka has stopped answering his messages, worn out by the waiting. As the loneliness closes in, a visitor turns up aboard the ship: an ancient spider-like creature with a soft, probing voice. It starts sorting through Jakub's past piece by piece, pushing him to look honestly at what he did to the person who loved him most.

The director behind the Chernobyl miniseries made a slow, intimate film about guilt and forgiveness, where deep space is really just a backdrop for a man talking to himself. Adam Sandler plays far against type, with Carey Mulligan as Lenka and Paul Dano voicing the creature.
