Interstellar

Interstellar (2014) is Christopher Nolan's space epic you can watch online on iFILM, with Matthew McConaughey as Cooper, a widowed pilot turned corn farmer. Earth is dying. Dust storms smother the last harvests, and a hidden NASA program has tracked a wormhole near Saturn that might lead humanity to a new home before the air runs out.

To save the species, Cooper has to leave his own kids behind. His daughter Murph (Mackenzie Foy, later Jessica Chastain) never forgives that goodbye on the porch. Past the wormhole, time turns brutal: one hour on an ocean planet costs seven years back home, so a single delay can swallow a lifetime. Flying with him are scientist Brand (Anne Hathaway), Professor Brand (Michael Caine) and a wisecracking robot called TARS, while Matt Damon waits on a frozen world as the stranded Dr. Mann.

Physicist Kip Thorne worked out the equations behind Gargantua, a black hole rendered like nothing put on screen before. Cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema shot on IMAX film, Hans Zimmer recorded the score on a church organ, and the picture took the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
