Then everything caves in at once. Doctors tell him he and his wife may never have children. The players' fathers quietly move to push him out. Kendrick made the picture on a shoestring, cast himself in the lead, and filled the roster with members of his own Georgia church, turning it into one of the best-known independent Christian films of the 2000s.
