Synopsis

The Blind Side (2009) is John Lee Hancock's sports drama you can watch online on iFILM. It follows the real path of football player Michael Oher, taken in off the street as a teenager by a family that wasn't his own.

Huge, quiet and all but homeless, Michael (Quinton Aaron) drifts through Memphis with nothing to his name and nowhere to sleep. One rainy night Leigh Anne Tuohy, played by Sandra Bullock, simply puts him in her car and drives him home, then fights to hand him a family, schooling and a shot. Bit by bit it turns out the withdrawn kid has a rare protector's instinct on the field: he shields whoever needs shielding. That instinct carries him toward college ball and the NFL draft.

Hancock adapted Michael Lewis's book, which dug into why the left tackle became one of the most expensive jobs in the game. Bullock won the Academy Award for Best Actress for the part. Lily Collins and Kathy Bates round out the cast. It's an unfussy film resting on one plain idea: sometimes a stranger's single choice rewrites a whole life.
