Synopsis
Antlers (2021) is Scott Cooper's folk horror you can watch online on iFILM. Deep in an abandoned Oregon coal mine, something attacks two men cooking meth. Three weeks later, one of them is back home — and no longer himself.
Schoolteacher Julia Meadows notices her withdrawn student Lucas drawing grisly pictures and guarding a terrible secret at home. The boy is feeding something locked away upstairs, and Julia, along with her sheriff brother, edges closer to what it is. The thing behind the door reaches back into an Indigenous legend of the wendigo — a starving spirit that hollows out a person and wears them. Keri Russell and Jesse Plemons carry the story, with Graham Greene grounding its mythology.
Guillermo del Toro produced the film, and you can feel it in the creature design and the all-over gloom. It's adapted from Nick Antosca's short story "The Quiet Boy." Cooper is really making a heavy drama about poverty, addiction, and neglected kids, dressed as a monster movie — slow, grimy, and bleak rather than jump-scare bait. Fans of brisk scares may find it a slog; lovers of mood-soaked horror will settle right in. Stream Antlers (2021) online on iFILM.
