Synopsis
Lewis (2007), Season 5 is an Oxford crime drama, four episodes, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Robert Lewis and James Hathaway return in 2011, with mysteries that keep tangling up the city's academic life.
The cases here are odd even by the show's standards. A reunion at Oxford's last all-female college ends in murder, and the trail reaches back to an assault from years before. A visiting woman bishop is poisoned, then further deaths echo, scene for scene, the bloody set-pieces of Jacobean revenge tragedy. One story digs into a campus antidepressant trial and the shaky ethics of the psychiatry professor running it. The finale looks like blackmail gone wrong until a secret decades old surfaces underneath.
An ITV production set in the Inspector Morse universe. What gives Season 5 its edge is how literary and scientific its crimes turn out to be. Stream Lewis Season 5 online on iFILM.
