Synopsis

From Beyond (1986) is Stuart Gordon's cult body-horror, adapted from an H.P. Lovecraft story and free to watch online on iFILM. Dr. Pretorius builds the Resonator, a machine that wakes a dormant gland in the human brain and tears open a doorway to a neighboring universe swarming with hungry creatures.

The first test costs the inventor his head and drives his assistant Crawford Tillinghast (Jeffrey Combs) out of his mind. Psychiatrist Katherine McMichaels (Barbara Crampton) is convinced he is no killer and drags him back to the Resonator to prove it. They switch the machine on again, and the parallel world starts bleeding through the walls, reshaping the flesh of anyone who glimpses it.

Gordon and Combs reunited the team from Re-Animator a year earlier and served up another feast of latex, slime and practical effects with no CGI in sight. Surrealism, eroticism and stomach-churning biology fuse into one — this one is for fans of old-school horror at its grimiest. Stream From Beyond (1986) online on iFILM.
