About

Synopsis

Dagon (2001) is a Spanish horror film rooted in H.P. Lovecraft's mythology — watch it online on iFILM. Director Stuart Gordon, whose earlier Lovecraft adaptation Re-Animator became a cult landmark, relocated the story from New England to the fog-soaked coast of Galicia, and the switch works in every unsettling way.

Paul and his girlfriend Barbara are sailing when a storm drives their yacht onto the rocks near a small fishing town called Imboca. They reach shore looking for help. The streets are nearly empty. The few locals they find move wrong, speak wrong, and look wrong. Barbara vanishes. Paul is left to run through narrow stone alleyways all night, slowly understanding that the worship of Dagon — an ancient sea deity — is not history here but active, breathing practice. Ezra Godden carries the film through its grinding momentum, and Spanish cinema veteran Francisco Rabal appears in one of his final roles, adding real weight to a crucial scene.

Shot on location in real Galician villages, the film earns its dread from wet stone walls and low fog rather than CGI. Stream Dagon online on iFILM — essential viewing for fans of Lovecraftian horror done practically and without apology.
