Synopsis
The Very Same Munchhausen (1979) is a philosophical comedy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Mark Zakharov and written by Grigory Gorin. Oleg Yankovsky plays the Baron: a man who claims he flew to the Moon, pulled himself out of a bog by his own hair, and once bagged two hares with a single cherry-pit bullet. The town has decided he is a liar. He has decided the town is wrong.
The Baron wants to marry Marta (Elena Koreneva), but the church will not take him while his legal wife is still alive. The Duke will grant permission under one condition: the Baron must sign a statement declaring every story was fabricated and that he is, in fact, an ordinary man. He refuses. Not out of stubbornness — signing it would be the only real lie he has ever told.
