Maharaja (2024) is a Tamil mystery thriller by Nithilan Swaminathan you can watch online on iFILM. A soft-spoken barber walks into a police station to report a break-in. Something called "Lakshmi" has been stolen — and he flatly refuses to say whether it's a person or an object.

The cops laugh him off; the whole complaint sounds like nonsense. But Maharaja will pay any sum to get it back and won't budge an inch. Vijay Sethupathi carries the film on barely any dialogue, working off a single stubborn stare, while Indian filmmaker Anurag Kashyap shows up on the other side of the camera as a brutal antagonist. The screenplay shuffles its timeline, holding back the point where every thread finally meets.

Swaminathan built a puzzle in which each scene rewrites the meaning of the last, and the ending forces you to reassemble the whole thing.
