Synopsis
Una terapia di gruppo (2024) is an Italian tragicomedy you can watch online on iFILM. A handful of strangers turn up for an appointment with a celebrated psychotherapist, only to find they have all been booked for the very same slot. The doctor is running late, and the waiting room fills with people whose lives are ruled by compulsions — obsessive cleaning, counting, a dread of stepping on the cracks between tiles.
With the wait dragging on, the awkward standoff slides into an impromptu group session. The strangers bicker, grate on each other, fall out and slowly connect, their quirks shifting from embarrassing to oddly moving. It is a one-room piece that lives entirely on its dialogue and performances.
Directed by Paolo Costella, the ensemble features Claudio Bisio and Margherita Buy. This is the Italian take on the well-known play Toc Toc, where the laughs come wrapped in real sympathy for people coping with their rituals.
