Amaran

Amaran (அமரன், 2024) is a Tamil war drama you can watch online on iFILM. It tells the story of a real Indian Army officer, Major Mukund Varadarajan, who was killed leading a counterterror mission in Kashmir. Sivakarthikeyan takes the lead, stepping out of his comedy roles into something far heavier.

Director Rajkumar Periasamy braids two threads in roughly equal measure. One follows Mukund's posting in the Shopian valley, where he leads his men through dangerous search-and-clear operations against militants. The other is his marriage to Indhu Rebecca Varghese, played by Sai Pallavi — and this love story is no mere backdrop, it carries half the film. The script grew out of a magazine profile of the officer, who was awarded India's highest peacetime gallantry honour, the Ashoka Chakra, after his death.

This is patriotic cinema that wears its heart openly, honouring a soldier and the widow he left behind. What keeps it grounded is the chemistry between Sivakarthikeyan and Pallavi, plus combat scenes shot with real grit. It became one of the most talked-about Tamil releases of its year.
