Synopsis

Colombia at the turn of the 1980s. Virginia is the most famous journalist on television, used to luxury and applause. Pablo Escobar climbs out of the Medellín slums toward cocaine billions, a seat in congress, and open war with the state. She falls for the power and the charm before she fully grasps that her lover is drowning cities in blood: car bombs, judges and police gunned down to order, terror with no brakes. Javier Bardem packed on weight to play the kingpin, and Penélope Cruz plays a woman who decides to walk away far too late.
