Synopsis

Sophie Scholl: The Final Days (2005) is Marc Rothemund's German historical drama, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Munich, February 1943. A student scatters anti-war leaflets across a university hall, and within minutes the Gestapo has her.

Sophie and her brother Hans belong to the White Rose, an underground circle printing pamphlets against Hitler's war. Caught mid-mission, Sophie spends her last six days across a desk from interrogator Robert Mohr, who offers her a way out if she'll just recant. She won't. Julia Jentsch carries almost the entire film with words alone, turning a sealed cell into the tensest space onscreen. The screenplay leans on surviving transcripts of the real interrogations, which gives every exchange its clipped, archival weight.

There are no chase scenes here, just a young woman arguing for conscience while the clock runs out. Jentsch took the Silver Bear for Best Actress and Rothemund the directing prize at Berlin, and the film went on to compete for the Best Foreign Language Oscar. If quiet defiance moves you more than spectacle, this one lands hard. Stream Sophie Scholl: The Final Days (2005) online on iFILM.
