Synopsis
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas (2008) is a war drama you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Mark Herman and produced by BBC Film and Miramax, the film adapts John Boyne's 2006 novel and stars Asa Butterfield, Vera Farmiga, and David Thewlis in a 90-minute story that follows the friendship no fence should have allowed.
Eight-year-old Bruno moves with his family from Berlin to an isolated house on the edge of what his father — a newly appointed camp commandant — calls a work facility. Bruno calls it a farm. Through the wire he meets Shmuel, a boy his age who happens to live on the other side in striped clothes. Neither child has a word for what divides them. Meanwhile, Lieutenant Kotler, played by Rupert Friend, brings his cruelty into the household, and Bruno's mother, Vera Farmiga, slowly grasps the cost of her husband's promotion.
The film keeps its camera at child height throughout, letting the horror accumulate from what Bruno cannot yet name. Stream The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas (2008) in full online on iFILM.
