Mandibles

Mandibles (Mandibules, 2021) is a deadpan absurdist comedy from Quentin Dupieux that you can watch online on iFILM. Two clueless slackers pop the trunk of a stolen car and find a giant, dog-sized housefly inside. Naturally, they decide to train it and rob a bank.

The scheme makes no sense, and that's the whole joke. Jean-Gab and Manu have no money, no plan and no doubts at all, so a huge insect simply becomes their ticket to riches. A case of mistaken identity strands them in a holiday villa full of wealthy strangers, where Adèle Exarchopoulos steals every scene as a woman who, after an accident, shouts every single line at top volume.

Dupieux does what he does best here: take one idiotic premise and follow it all the way down, never winking at the audience, never mocking his own fools.
