His one real ally is Attorney General Fritz Bauer, a genuine historical figure whose persistence eventually put the perpetrators in the dock. Alexander Fehling plays Radmann as a mix of stubbornness and innocence that slowly buckles under what he learns.

Director Giulio Ricciarelli skips the courtroom-thriller beats and instead tracks how a whole country first learned to face its own recent past.
