Nim's Island

Nim's Island (2008) is a family adventure you can watch online on iFILM. Eleven-year-old Nim lives with her scientist father on a hidden tropical island, where the only link to the outside world is a satellite dish. Her friends are a sea lion, an iguana and a pelican, and her favorite books star a fearless explorer named Alex Rover.

Then her father sails out to study plankton and a storm swallows his boat. Nim (Abigail Breslin) is left on her own and emails the one person she trusts for help: the author of those very adventure novels. The trouble is that Alexandra Rover (Jodie Foster) turns out to be a shut-in who can barely make herself leave the apartment. She has to cross half the planet for a girl she's never met, while Nim defends the island from a boatload of intruding tourists.
