Moana

Moana (2016) is the Disney animated adventure you can watch online on iFILM. A chief's daughter from a Pacific island sails alone into open water to save her home from a creeping blight.

Moana is sixteen, and the elders forbid anyone from crossing the reef. Yet the fish are vanishing, the coconuts are rotting, and the sea itself keeps tugging at her. To heal the island she has to track down Maui, a boastful demigod whose old theft of a goddess's heart started the whole mess. The two cross the ocean on one small boat, bicker constantly, rescue each other more than once, and run into coconut pirates, a giant glittering crab, and a wall of lava with a temper.

The film comes from John Musker and Ron Clements, the directors behind The Little Mermaid and Aladdin. Lin-Manuel Miranda of Hamilton wrote the songs, Dwayne Johnson voices Maui, and newcomer Auli'i Cravalho recorded the lead at sixteen, barely older than the girl she plays.
