Synopsis

Munich, summer of 1972. An American network's Olympic broadcast team is set up to cover swimming and track when armed men seize Israeli athletes inside the Olympic Village a few hundred yards away. The control room makes a fateful call: stay live. Peter Sarsgaard, John Magaro and Leonie Benesch play producers and engineers crammed behind a switching desk, weighing every frame they push out to a global audience while a hostage standoff unfolds in real time.
Almost the entire film stays inside that booth, all flickering monitors, ringing phones and arguments over what the camera should and shouldn't show. Fehlbaum turns it into a tight study of live television and the instant tragedy turned into spectacle. The screenplay was up for an Academy Award. Stream September 5 (2024) online on iFILM.
