Synopsis
The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) is an Alfred Hitchcock thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Dr. Ben McKenna, his wife Jo and their young son are on holiday in Morocco when a stranger is stabbed in a Marrakech market and dies in Ben's arms.
With his final breath the man passes Ben a warning about an assassination plot. Suddenly an ordinary American doctor holds a secret that powerful people will kill to protect. They snatch his son to buy his silence, and the McKennas chase the truth from North Africa to London, where everything comes down to a single gunshot timed to a cymbal crash at the Royal Albert Hall. James Stewart and Doris Day carry the film as parents far out of their depth.
Hitchcock remade his own 1934 British picture here, bigger and tighter, with a famous set piece built entirely around an orchestral cue. Doris Day's song "Que Sera, Sera" won the Academy Award for Best Original Song, and composer Bernard Herrmann appears on screen conducting the climax.
