Synopsis
Ice Princess (2005) is a Disney family sports drama you can watch online on iFILM. Casey Carlyle is a quiet, straight-A student whose real dream isn't Harvard at all. It's the ice.
It starts as a physics project. Casey studies the aerodynamics of figure-skating jumps, and the equations slowly turn into an obsession. Training under former champion Tina Harwood (Kim Cattrall) throws her up against Tina's competitive daughter Gen (Hayden Panettiere) and against her own lawyer mother (Joan Cusack), who has mapped out a very different life for her. Michelle Trachtenberg plays Casey with an awkward sincerity that keeps the character grounded.
Director Tim Fywell delivers a solid teen movie about earning the right to chase your own dream instead of your parents' plan. The skating sequences lean on professional stand-ins, and the soundtrack is packed with mid-2000s pop. It doesn't reach for depth, but as a cozy night-in watch with a teenage daughter, it lands.
