Synopsis

A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (2014) is Ana Lily Amirpour's black-and-white horror film you can watch online on iFILM. It unfolds in the made-up Iranian town of Bad City, where oil pumps creak over deserted streets and a chador-clad figure prowls after dark.

That figure is a vampire (Sheila Vand), silent and gliding through the lamplight on a skateboard. She picks her prey from the men who prey on others, pimps, dealers, anyone used to taking what they want by force. Then she crosses paths with Arash (Arash Marandi), a local kid styled like an Iranian James Dean, complete with a vintage Thunderbird. What grows between the predator and the boy is strange and oddly tender.

Amirpour shot her Persian-language debut in California, blending spaghetti western, film noir and teen romance over a pulsing electronic score. The film works on mood more than scares, long silences, hard shadows, a town that feels stranded outside of time. It's for viewers who love atmospheric arthouse and vampires who break the mold.
