The Black Demon

The Black Demon (2023) is a creature thriller from director Adrian Grünberg that you can watch online on iFILM. Oilman Paul Sturges brings his family to a stretch of Mexican coast for a holiday and finds a ruined, half-abandoned village instead, where the few people left talk in low voices about something out in the water.

Local Aztec legend names it the Black Demon: a colossal shark that guards the sea and punishes those who poison it. Paul (Josh Lucas) heads out to a rusting offshore oil rig to find out what happened, and that's when the trap shuts — the walkway is wrecked, there's no boat, and a thing the size of a bus is circling below. His wife, his kids and Paul are pinned above the waves, and every trip down toward the water could be the last.

Grünberg frames the shark scares around a sharper idea: the monster is nature collecting a debt, and Paul's oil work isn't set dressing.
