About

Synopsis

Signs (2002) is an M. Night Shyamalan sci-fi thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Mel Gibson plays Graham Hess, a widowed Pennsylvania farmer who wakes one morning to find enormous geometric patterns pressed into his cornfield — too exact, too large to explain away.

Graham is a former priest who stopped believing the day his wife died. His brother Merrill (Joaquin Phoenix) is staying at the farm, along with Graham's son Morgan and young daughter Bo, played by Abigail Breslin three years before Little Miss Sunshine made her a name. They board up the windows while reports come in that the same patterns have appeared on six continents. Shyamalan builds the dread out of what the camera does not show — a noise outside, a half-glimpsed silhouette, a child's glass of water left on a window ledge.

Made for $72 million and grossed $408 million worldwide, Signs is one of the highest-earning horror-thrillers of the early 2000s. Shyamalan shot and directed the film through his own Blinding Edge Pictures. Stream Signs (2002) online on iFILM.
