47 Meters Down

47 Meters Down (2017) is a survival thriller you can watch online on iFILM. On a Mexican holiday, two sisters agree to a cage dive among great white sharks — and end up trapped on the seabed with less than an hour of air in their tanks.

Kate talks the cautious Lisa into a thrill: a rusty winch, a battered boat, dodgy local operators and the promise of seeing predators up close. At first it feels like a tourist attraction. Then the cable snaps and the cage drops forty-seven metres straight down. Between them and the surface lies a column of water they cannot rush through without risking the bends, a radio fading at the edge of range, and dark shapes circling the bars. Mandy Moore and Claire Holt play sisters whose panic becomes an enemy of its own.

Director Johannes Roberts keeps the audience pinned in the deep for most of the runtime, in a blue gloom where a torch reveals just enough to make things worse. The film is short, the breaks are few, and the ending bends the rules you think you know. Stream 47 Meters Down (2017) online on iFILM.
