The Meg

The Meg (2018) is a sci-fi action thriller with Jason Statham that you can watch online on iFILM. Director Jon Turteltaub drops a research crew to the floor of the Mariana Trench, where a creature science had written off as extinct comes loose: a seventy-foot megalodon, the prehistoric ancestor of the great white shark.

Deep-sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor met this thing once before and lost people doing it. He only goes back down because a station crew is trapped at crush depth with no other way out. Working beside him is oceanographer Suyin, played by Li Bingbing, and her young daughter, who becomes the shark's most personal target. Every dive pushes the danger upward, until the monster turns toward crowded beaches and the open water above.

A China-US co-production, the film takes the old fear of sharks and blows it up to blockbuster scale, leaning on Statham's deadpan calm. Its tagline says it all: "Pleased to eat you." This is a ride that never pretends to be more than fun. Stream The Meg (2018) online on iFILM.
