Synopsis
We Are What We Are (2013) is a slow-burn horror drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Jim Mickle. The Parkers look like a quiet, devout family living off the grid, keeping to themselves at the edge of a rural town. Behind closed doors they uphold a grim ritual passed down for generations.
When the family matriarch collapses and dies during a relentless storm, the weight of that tradition falls on her two daughters, teenage Iris and younger Rose. Their stern father Frank, played by Bill Sage, demands they honor the old ways without question. But the flooding rain keeps washing evidence out of the soil, and the local doctor starts linking what he finds to a string of long-ago disappearances. Julia Garner and Ambyr Childers anchor the story as girls beginning to doubt everything they were raised to believe.
A loose reworking of the Mexican original, it trades shock cuts for dread that builds breath by breath, then lands a final act that hits hard. This one rewards patience, so it suits fans of character-driven horror more than jump-scare crowds. Stream We Are What We Are (2013) online on iFILM.
