Synopsis
The Devil's Candy (2016) is Sean Byrne's lean horror feature you can watch online on iFILM. Painter Jesse moves his family into a roomy house in rural Texas, and an unwelcome kind of inspiration moves in with them.
Jesse's canvases start filling with nightmarish images he doesn't seem to choose. Ethan Embry plays him as a man sliding from creative obsession into something darker: the paintings open a door for a force that hunts children. A heavy, shuffling stranger named Ray (Pruitt Taylor Vince) lingers near the house, and Jesse's daughter Zooey becomes the target. Shiri Appleby plays the mother who senses the danger first.
Byrne keeps it to a tight 76 minutes, scoring the dread with crushing metal riffs instead of cheap jump scares.
